Snack for a thought: What are Values?

Don't worry, this is not one of the classes from your Moral Science teacher back when you were a kid. Well, this is how we should have been taught about what does value mean. They define a person. The things that we believe in, the way we approach a situation. It was there with our fathers and forefathers. That is what gave them a personality. It can be how self-respect is greater than money or how putting your needs after your loved ones….we all have grown up facing certain values, certain lessons that taught us a thing or two. It can be the littlest of the things. The way how my daadi says never say I’m leaving…….never end with just-I’m leaving, always say I'll come back. or the way how Dad has always taught, me to never give up. Try, try and try. Try even if the deadline was yesterday. These instances speak about a person like where my daadi ’s beautiful interior speaks out of her tough personality or how my dad shows belief in his daughter that no matter how much time passes ill finally do it right! People have certain beliefs, the way they think. There is always a reason why people are the way they are. All of us have. Although, the context has changed. We have started to accept things in a new way, if you aren’t open-minded you aren’t right. You need to give a person the freedom to develop their own values and beliefs. Most of the things that people take back aren't what was imposed on them it was what they willingly wanted to inculcate in themselves. You see values are different from a habit. How can we judge people when we don’t even have the same breakfast? How can I expect for people to think the way I do. I don’t mean to say that all that’s new is a hoax and all that’s old is gold. No, I don’t mean to say that you follow all of these beliefs that our elders had back then. All I want to convey is that open yourself up but not on the grounds of losing your values. You as a human can never be knowledgeable enough. It is a growing process and through this journey, you will learn a lot, discover a lot, find a lot.  Ground yourself with the beliefs you wanna carry and work on them don't just grow start like a tree trunk, expand yourself like the branches on a tree. When you do understand the human nature of others, make sure that you don’t stay away from your beliefs and your values because these are what will help you decide from what is right and what is wrong. Nobody can understand you  in all times, except for yourself. There is a reason for you to keep these values because there might have been that one incident that shook you down-soo much that you decided to never let the same thing shake you up again. So no matter what you say the opposite person won’t have the same perspective as yours, it might be on the similar ground but your sources will be different. Be open but don’t let that take you away from the core values that you believed in because no matter who it is losing yourself in the noise will never be worth it and if you have a thought to spare please leave a comment below as that would be really really helpful!
